NFTY-OV Spring Kallah

Dear NFTY OV families,

At the URJ, our chief concern is for the safety, health, and well-being of the participants and staff of our programs. As such, as part of our normal due diligence, we continue to closely monitor the spread of coronavirus (COVID-19), and our leaders are in close communication with leading public health officials and medical authorities, both locally and globally.

Based on their recommendations, and in keeping with decisions made by organizations similar to ours, we’re writing today with an important update amid this rapidly evolving situation.

Out of an abundance of caution, we have decided to terminate plans to host NFTY OV Spring Kallah.

We share in your disappointment about not being able to attend this much-anticipated event, and we thank you for your understanding during a time of unprecedented vigilance. Going forward, we will continue to monitor the situation and will be in contact, as appropriate.

Our NFTY teen leaders, with their adult partners, are planning online/video programming for the weekend, including a process to complete NFTY-OV Board elections, since we will not be able to gather in person. Dori Singer Zoot, NFTY Ohio Valley Regional Director, will be in touch shortly with that information.  In addition, we would like to share this blog by Maya Levy, our NFTY North American President, where she reflects on how teens can navigate these complicated times.

Fortunately, we have not processed payment for your enrollment in this program, so there will be no need for any reimbursement of funds.   Unfortunately, however, the URJ and NFTY-OV will still incur significant event costs that we are unable to recoup in the face of the termination of this event. If you would consider allocating some of the tuition funds to NFTY-OV as a donation, it would go a long way in helping to offset these remaining nonrefundable expenses.  You can make such a donation by following this link.

Together, we pray for an end to the spread of the virus and for a full recovery of those who are affected. We look forward to gathering virtually over the April 2nd weekend, to our next in-person event in the fall and to the continued work to create the transformative connections at the core of our Reform Jewish movement.

With gratitude,
Dori Singer Zoot, NFTY Ohio Valley Regional Director
Jeremy Klotz, URJ GUCI Director
