Candidates for President

Hey! My name is Cyle Ginsberg, and I’m running to be the 5780-5781 President of NFTY-OV! I’m currently a junior at Westfield High School, in Westfield Indiana, just outside of Indianapolis. At Westfield I participate in multiple extracurricular activities, including speech and debate, theater (currently playing Donkey in Shrek the Musical), and the a cappella choir. I attend Indianapolis Hebrew Congregation (IHC) and have served as my TYG’s (IFTY) Programming Vice President for the past 3 years and the region's head song leader for the past 2 years. I’ve attended GUCI for ten summers, and will be in Avodah and helping to song lead at camp this summer. My involvement at camp, attending URJ Heller High, attending North American events, and participating in the URJ teen Song Leading Fellowship, have given me the opportunity to meet Jewish teens from around the country and the world, and the ability to bring that perspective back home to NFTY-OV.

Hi! My name is Morgen Grover, and I am currently a Junior at Walnut Hills High School in Cincinnati, Ohio. Outside of NFTY, I am involved in a few clubs at my school, which include Walnut Hills recycling, Dragonfly ambassadors and Books for Kids. I also work part-time as a Brand Representative at Hollister. I go to Rockdale Temple and have been apart of my TYG, YGOR, since the spring of my 8th-grade year. I have held a TYG board position since my Freshman year. I have also been a Madricha for currently 3 years. I have attended Camp Livingston for 7 summers, which included an Israel trip in the summer of 2019. NFTY has created a place for me to express my Judaism, develop into a leader, and meet so many amazing people. I am so excited and grateful for the opportunity to run for the 5780-5781 Regbo presidency.

Candidate for Programming Vice President

Shalom! My name is Elyse Kadish. I am a junior at Loveland High School, and I am beyond excited to be running to be regional PVP for NFTY Ohio Valley for the years 5780-5781! My Jewish identity has always played a large role in my life, and I am so grateful that NFTY has provided such an incredible place for me to express it. I have been an eager NFTY participant since my first JYG Kallah, in 2015. I have been on my TYG board since my freshman year and I have also been a madrecha (teacher’s assistant) at my Sunday School. NFTY has inspired me to be a leader, not only in my Jewish community, but at my school as well. This past fall, I was inducted into the Loveland High School chapter of National Honor Society, and I pride myself on my leadership skills that helped me achieve that accomplishment. I am beyond excited to continue my leadership experience, and I can’t wait to see what this year will bring!

Candidate for Social Action Vice President

Hi NFTY Ohio Valley! My name is Macey Goorevich, and I am currently a sophomore at Hume Fogg Academic Magnet High School in the heart of Nashville Tennessee. I am the MiTY PVP and was the MiTY SAVP last year. I strongly believe in empathy and tolerance and walk that talk in my everyday life. For my congregation, I have been a Madracha, assistant religious school teacher, for the past two years. I take action in my community and have done many things to serve such as canvas calling for the Karl Dean for Governor Campaign, cooking for first responders in the Nashville Tornado Relief efforts, and being an advocate for myself and others in the face of adversity. Besides my involvement in NFTY, I work at Trader Joe’s four days a week, I Crossfit with my parents and spend time with my sister, Lilly, and puppy, Gus. My favorite color is yellow, I love classic rock music and traveling, and if I could live in any time period, I would be a hippie in the 1970’s. As SAVP, I can’t wait to give back to the region that has done so much for me!

Hello, Ohio Valley! My name is Lila Herzig and I am running to be your RCVP for the 2020-2021 year. I am so excited to be a part of our regional board! I am a junior at Walnut Hills High School in Cincinnati, Ohio. My TYG (temple youth group) is YGOR (Youth Group of Rockdale). I have been a part of NFTY since I was in eighth grade, and though I will soon be in my senior year, my connection with NFTY will always be a part of me. I love to read, paint, write, and sing in my free time and I’m always looking for a  book/movie/TV show recommendation with a Jewish protagonist. I also love musicals and plays (though you’ll never see me in a musical). I have worked in the Jewish community as a madricha and a camp counselor. I served as RCVP of YGOR in 2018-19 and in 2019-20 I had to leave YGOR board when I went to Heller High in Israel for a semester. At Heller High, I took classes on Hebrew and Jewish History and I led services there at least once a week on average. I love learning languages, so let me know if you ever want to have a conversation consisting of rudimentary Hebrew (or Latin or Ancient Greek)! !אני אוהבת כולכם

Candidate for Membership VIce President

I'm Abbie Needleman, I am 16 years old, and I am a student at Worthington Kilbourne High School in Worthington, Ohio. I play three sports for my school, field hockey, swimming, and lacrosse. I'm very involved in my youth group BethTy. I am currently Membership Vice President of BethTy. I want to run because NFTY OV is like my second family and has given me so much love and a huge sense of belonging and I would love to give that to others in the future for NFTY OV. Some interesting facts about me are I don't have one certain favorite color, or genre of music, I love many colors and lots of music genres. I also love hanging out with my friends, going hammocking anywhere, listening to music, going on car rides, traveling, and of course going to NFTY and all other reform Jewish events I get invited to!

Candidates for Communications Vice President

Hi I’m Jacob Rathkopf. I am a sophomore at Hayes high school in Delaware Ohio. I’ve been the Co-President of BeSTY for the past year, and have been going to Nfty events ever since Winter Kallah of freshman year. Prior to that I was a local leader at my temple. When I’m not TYG planning, hanging with my friends,or enjoying my favorite hobby, photography... I’m at work as a lifeguard at my local YMCA. For the past 5 years I’ve spent my summers at GUCI, which is where my Jewish identity was born. GUCI has really helped me realize that my jewish identity is so Important and what makes me, .. me Some of my favorite things to do are go get chicken wings with my friends, sleep, or listen to music.

Hi I’m Aleeza Schneider and I’m running to be Ohio Valley’s Communication Vice President.  I am a junior at Wyoming High School in Wyoming, Ohio and I go to Valley Temple in Cincinnati, Ohio.  I am currently my TYG’s, VOTY’s, Social Action Vice President.  I have gone to GUCI for six summers, and last summer I went on NFTY in Israel.  I run Cross Country in the fall, I love curling up with a good book, I can read for hours, I love art and have always been artistic and creative, and I love binging a good tv show, I am currently obsessed with Gilmore Girls.  My friends would describe me as someone who you can talk to about anything, the person that is always ready with a sub-par joke, and very outgoing, when I want to be.

Candidate for Financial Vice President

Shalom Y’all! My name is Sara Solan. I am from Franklin, Tennessee and a proud member and president of MiTY! I am a rising senior.  I am running for Financial Vice President because of my love for NFTY OV and experience in working in budgeting, financial planning, and running a business! So how did I get into NFTY? In 7th grade, I was ready to quit being Jewish. I had no Jewish friends, was singled-out at school, and just felt no connection. After my first NFTY event in 7th grade, my perspective on Judaism FLIPPED.  NFTY allowed me to connect with my religion, make some of my best friends, and grow through social action. Now it is my turn to pay it back! When I am not participating in Jewish activities, I am working as a hostess at the Westhaven Golf Club, thrifting with friends, volunteering at the Animal Shelter, and learning about new cultures! This year I also have had the opportunity to start my own business, “Lemon Thread”.  We upcycle denim jackets and create tie-dyed clothing! We recently pitched to investors and received $500 to grow our business. Owning a company has taught me a lot I can apply to OV next year! See Y’all soon!
