Bringing Home What We Learned at NFTY Convention: Introducing Quiet Rooms to Regional Events

Howdy y’all!

It’s Natalie and Charlie from Dayton, Ohio! We attended NFTY Convention 2019 in Dallas, Texas, last month and we had a blast! One of the things we learned about while at Convention was the importance of quiet rooms for NFTY events, and we are bringing these ideas back to our region. Quiet rooms are basically spaces for people to go when they are feeling overwhelmed, overstimulated, or just need a moment alone to recharge. Quiet rooms are NOT the same thing as chill rooms (spaces for people to hang out with calm but talkative free time). Quiet rooms are silent spaces that might have different items such as play dough, ear plugs, glitter jars, and more. We are excited to announce that we will begin incorporating quiet rooms in Ohio Valley events, starting with Spring Kallah 2019! Our quiet room will be open during programming and be a available to anyone who would like to utilize it.

At the event, we’ll share where you can find the room in the building we are using and be happy to answer any questions you might have. See you in a few days!

Shalom,
